Furious George

We’re a high school robotics team competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge, and this is our robot Gary — our fully custom-built competition robot! Gary can automatically pick up colored wiffle balls from the floor, sort them by color inside a spinning mechanism called a “spindexer,” and launch them into a goal across the field. The spindexer is the heart of the robot — it organizes the balls in the right order so they can be shot out in a specific color pattern to score bonus points. A dual flywheel launcher then fires them accurately from specific launch zones on the field. Every part of the robot was designed, built, and programmed entirely by our student team.
